Our MissionThe ELCA in Metro St. Louis consists of 36 congregations and two worshipping communities of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in the Metropolitan St. Louis Area who reach out in mission to the people in this area. This Coalition confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the Gospel as the power of God for the salvation of all who believe. Twenty-seven congregations and two missions are in Missouri in the Central States Synod. Nine congregations and one mission are in Illinois in the Central/Southern Illinois Synod Synod. The Coalition exists within the largest urban-suburban area in both synods. The Coalition embodies the commitment of congregations to serve one another as the Body of Christ and to be an essential partner with both synods.
CommitmentsThe Coalition nurtures community…connects individuals, congregations and synods…communicates in a variety of ways, including informing, educating and planning…cares for congregations, especially those at risk…coordinates ministries and committees…is committed to evaluating current programs and ministries and exploring opportunities for new ministries.
